An Asian gang of 7 men was arrested by police and prosecuted by Dubai Courts on assault and robbery charges for breaking into an apartment and stealing over Dhs289,000.
The case dates back to last March when police received a call about a robbery that took place in Naif area in Dubai.
The defendants left behind an Asian victim, who was beaten and tied up.
Official records point out that the victim was taken by surprise by two of the defendants who rang his door bell and attacked him as soon as he opened.
"I was suddenly pushed by the defendants, who were followed by four other men. One of them covered my mouth and threatened to hurt me with a knife in his hand if i attempted to scream,” the victim said.
The gang tied the victim up with duct tape, then searched his pockets and found a wallet with Rs3,000 and Dhs1,480 inside.
They also found the keys to his safe and stole Dhs289,000 inside before fleeing the scene.
Meanwhile, the tied up victim managed to free himself and reported the incident to police.
Investigations were carried out to identify and locate the defendants, who were apprehended one after the other.
