An AC unit explosion has taken place on Thursday morning, causing the death of an Asian worker and the injury of two others.
The explosion happened when the workers were carrying out maintenance work on the air-conditioning unit in a residential building on Jamal Abdul Nasser Street, Sharjah.
In details, a report was received at the operations room of the Sharjah Police General Command at 10:30am, stating that an explosion had occurred in the 22-storey Al Yasmine Residential Tower on Al Wahda Street, which was felt by all residents of the tower and those living in the area.
Accordingly, the police patrol, forensic experts and national ambulance as well as civil defence teams moved to the scene of the accident.

The police and civil defence teams evacuated the residents, and closed all water and gas connections to the tower as a precautionary measure, and it was found that the explosion occurred while 3 workers from the maintenance company in charge of maintaining the tower were working on cleaning the central air conditioning units at the top of the tower.
The explosion occurred in one of 6 central air-conditioning units, which led to the death of an Asian worker at the site and the injury of two others.
They were transported after the accident to Al-Qasimi Hospital.

One of those in charge of the tower administration confirmed that it includes 22 floors and 12 apartments on each floor, and that the explosion caused damage to the air conditioners in about 50 apartments in the tower, which prompted the tower management to transport them to a hotel near the tower, and bear the accommodation costs for them until the air-conditioning service is restored.
Al Buhairah Comprehensive Police Station proceeded to complete the rest of the investigations to determine the causes of the accident, while the body was transferred to the forensic laboratory, afterwards a death certificate would be issued to complete the rest of the legal procedures.
