An 18-year-old Jordanian student, Bashir Al Ghazawi, studying in grade 12 in a private school in Al Ain City, died of COVID-19.
The virus also infected his family, including three girls and a boy.
Bashir's family said since his birth he had a congenital heart defect, because of which he underwent several surgeries, catheterization and open-heart surgery. At fifteen, he suffered from fluid accumulation in his body, but the necessary procedures were done for him in hospitals.”
The deceased’s sister praised the UAE’s great efforts under the wise leadership, to protect members of society and provide the highest levels of care for the infected people with COVID-19 without discrimination between a citizen and a resident.
She added, "Bashir was a socialite by nature, loving to his friends and kind-hearted. In May, he was infected with the virus after conducting PCR test for all family members. Instantly, he was hospitalised and all medical tests were conducted for him. His health condition was good, but he was attacked and killed by the virus due to his previous medical history."
