Asian man arrested and fined for indecently dancing in Dubai metro

The Transport Security Department at Dubai Police have arrested an Asian national for committing an indecent act in public. The man's obscene dance in a Dubai Metro compartment, disturbing other passengers with his inappropriate actions, went viral on social media.

He was also fined for failing to adhere to COVID-19 precautionary measures.

According to Brigadier Obaid Al Hathboor, Director of Transport Security Department at Dubai Police, the force took action against the man when the video went viral, showing disrespect for the people around him with his risque behaviour.

He also noted that Article (358) of the UAE Penal code states that whoever openly commits an indecent and disgraceful act shall be punished with detention for a period of at least six months or/ and a fine of Dhs5,000.

The Director of Transport Security Department explained that the violator was also punished for not wearing a face mask in a public place. This was in contravention of Resolution No. (38) of 2020 on enforcement of penalties for violations following the Cabinet Resolution No. (17) of 2020 to contain the spread of the coronavirus, COVID-19.
