Green pass mandatory to enter malls, supermarkets, gyms, hotels in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has approved usage of green pass on Alhosn app, based on the emirate’s 4-pillar strategy to combat COVID-19 focused on vaccination, active contract tracings, safe entry and adopting preventive measures.

The committee approved the usage of green pass process exclusively for safe entry to shopping malls and large supermarkets, gyms, hotels and facilities within, public parks and beaches, private beaches and swimming pools, entertainment centres, cinemas, and museums, and restaurants and cafes. This will come into effective Tuesday 15 June 2021.

The committee clarified that these procedures complement existing and approved procedures for activities in vital sectors and apply to those aged 16 years and above.

The Alhosn colour-coding system has been updated per the green pass protocol to reflect users’ vaccination status and PCR test validity. It defines six categories including fully vaccinated, second dose recipients and first dose recipients waiting for a second dose appointment.

The user categories on Alhosn also include first dose recipients late to their second dose appointment, those exempt from receiving the vaccine and the non-vaccinated.

For those vaccinated who have received their second dose at least 28 days earlier or are volunteers in vaccine trials, a negative PCR test result will see the Alhosn status appear in green for 30 days as well as show the active icon (letter E or gold star) for seven days.

For those who have received their second dose less than 28 days earlier, a negative PCR test result will see the Alhosn status appear in green for 14 days, while for first dose recipients (A) who are waiting for their second dose appointment it will be green for seven days.

For first dose recipients (B) who are late to their second dose appointment by 48 days or more, a negative PCR test result will see the Alhosn status appear in green for 3 days, while for those with vaccine exemption certificates it will appear in green for seven days.

For those unvaccinated with no exemption, a negative PCR test result will turn the Alhosn status green for three days. For all categories, the Alhosn status will turn grey when the relevant PCR test validity ends.
