The nose of a British Airways cargo plane collapsed on the runway at Heathrow Airport, prompting panic among airport workers and authorities.
The plane was parked at the time of the accident while it was carrying cargo. There were no passengers on board at the time.
A British Airways spokesman said, "The cargo plane was damaged... As it was only a cargo aircraft, there were no passengers on board."
He added, “Safety is always our top priority and we are investigating.
"An unidentified (currently) British Airways Boeing 787 had a nose gear failure at London Heathrow this morning," a news site wrote on Twitter.
The extent of the damage is currently unknown.
A video showed the front of the aircraft touching the tarmac, while the escalator is still attached to the aircraft door.
The eight-year-old aircraft is fitted with 154 economy, 25 premium economy and 35 business class seats but has recently been used for transporting cargo instead of passengers, following restrictive rules on international travel during the pandemic.
