The Department of Health-Abu Dhabi has warned the public and health professionals against use of an unpermitted product called “Al 3on Honey”, which is promoted and sold as a slimming nutritional supplement on social networking websites.
The DoH stated in a circular to the public, pharmaceutical facilities, healthcare facilities and health professionals that the results of the laboratory analysis proved that the aforementioned product contained an undeclared banned substance “Sibutramine”, which is prohibited due to its association with an increased risk of cardiovascular side effects such as heart attacks and strokes.

It also indicated that the product is not allowed for sale in the UAE, pointing out that the product may enter the country with those coming from abroad, or it may be purchased via the Internet and social networking websites.
The Department of Health calls on the public and health professionals not to consume the product and to report any complaint regarding the quality of any product with medical claims via e-mail: [email protected] to take the necessary measures.
It also stresses the need to report any adverse symptoms incurred due to the use of the above-mentioned products through the electronic reporting system via: https://www.doh.gov.ae/ar/resources/Reporting or via the UAE RADAR smart application.
