Some families in Al Ain City have adopted the ‘green pass’ system to allow first-degree relatives to visit them in their houses.
The SMS alerts sent to family members and relatives begin with saying “in line with the precautionary measures and for your safety and the safety of our mothers.”
The same phrase is also found in other social media accounts where the account holders have requested their relatives including children and grandchildren to take a PCR test to ensure that they are not infected with COVID-19.
Some individuals who put these SMS alerts aimed at curbing the spread of the COVID-19 variants, pointed out that the presence of elderly men and women in their houses necessitated family members to be approached in a friendly manner without offending the feelings of relatives.
Some others indicated that as protecting community members is a shared responsibility, especially in light of the current health conditions, awareness should be kept high among members of the society to the need to abide by the precautionary and preventive measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 variants.
