The Dubai Public Prosecution has referred an Asian duo, aged 22 and 36, to Criminal Court for robbing a transport company vehicle that was parked in Al Qusais Area, Dubai.
The court files reveal that the defendants had planned and committed the robbery with the help of another runaway accomplice.
It was mentioned that the robbers had used a screwdriver to break into the vehicle, then made a copy of its key in order to steal it away.
The partner of the transport company testified saying, “During June of 2019, I have handed over the vehicle to one of the company’s drivers in order to park it in a sand area near his residence. Afterwards, the driver travelled back to his home country for a vacation.” However, when the driver returned back to UAE during September, he headed to the vehicle location to check on it and was surprised to see that it was missing.
Accordingly, the police were alerted about the incident and a robbery report was filed by the company.
The police teams investigated the robbery and received a tip-off about an Asian gang who have committed other robberies with the same modus operandi. Police learned that the defendants were already jailed on other criminal charges.
The defendants were transferred to the police station where the robbery report was filed, to be questioned on the vehicle robbery.
The defendants admitted to stealing the parked vehicle and have been prosecuted by Dubai courts to receive maximum punishment for their crime.
