Heavy rain was witnessed in several areas of the UAE on Wednesday, bringing down the temperature by a few notches.
Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, and Dibba — Masafi Road experienced heavy downpour. Light rain was also witnessed in Sharjah.
Al Madam, Alfaya and Al Nazwa areas saw light to moderate rain around 4pm, but in the city centre area the temperature remained high.The UAE weather body, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) shared videos of rain in the respective Emirates.
However, in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, there was no rain.
In Sharjah, the average temperature during the day hovered around 34°C.
Residents and workers are urged to hydrate themselves periodically to avoid unwanted illness.
The NCM said that the highest temperature recorded over the country on Wednesday was 49°C in Saih Al Salem, Dubai at 2pm local time.
The lowest temperature recorded over the country was 24.8°C in Barakah, Al Dhafrah Region at 5:15 pm local time.The weather body said on Wednesday morning,
“A chance of convective clouds formation maybe associated with rainfall and fresh winds and strong at times causing blowing dust reducing the horizontal visibility at times over some Eastern areas from 13:00 until 19:00.”
