In a bizarre incident, the emergency unit team at the Dubai Police rescued a 16-year-girl whose hand got stuck in the bathroom sewer drain hole after she was trying to save her trapped cat.
The police received a report stating that a girl’s hand was stuck in a bathtub’s drain line and that she was locked up in her family’s house in Al Khawaneej area, Lt. Col. Abdullah Bishouh, Head of the Land Rescue Department at Dubai Police, said.
Immediately, a competent rescue team rushed to the place. They used special equipment and a hydraulic screwdriver to open the bathroom door.
Then, they managed to extricate the girl's hand from inside the drain hole. The girl was in good condition, Col. Bishouh added.
However, the rescuers found that the girl's hand was stuck between the wall and the bathtub where the drain hole was located, he said.

The girl said that she heard her kitten’s distress meows. She used her phone’s flashlight to check on the cat.
She found that it was trapped in the hole.
She put her hand behind the bathtub, but unfortunately she could not pull it out.
She called for her family’s help, but the bathroom door was locked, so they called the police.
The space, where the girl's hand got stuck, was very narrow. It was around 8cm.
They had to remove the glass near the bathtub and then remove the bathtub from its place without causing any injury to the girl and kitten.
The kitten was rescued as well.
The successful rescue operation took 10 minutes, Col. Bishouh said.
