Unvaccinated UAE residents urged not to travel abroad to avoid exposure to COVID-19 variants

Unvaccinated residents have been urged by the UAE authorities not to travel during this phase, as they would have a high chance of getting infected with the coronavirus.

Dr Farida Al Hosani, Official Spokesperson for the UAE Healthcare Sector, told media during the latest coronavirus briefing on Sunday.

The health experts said, “We do not recommend travel for those who have not received the Covid-19 vaccine or who have not completed the doses of the vaccine, for fear of further exposure to the disease and its complications.”

In the context of travel planning, it is necessary to review the health situation in the country you wish to travel to and to ensure the stability of cases of Covid-19 in order to avoid any emergency precautionary measures or curfews that may be imposed by some countries in the event of a worsening health situation.

Dr Farida said, “For travellers, we advice to avoid crowded places and adhere to wearing masks and physical distancing, regardless of the procedures applied in countries.

“We also advise to wear masks continuously while using public transportation, including planes, cars and ships.”

Health officials said, “We note that some people may insist on taking more doses of the Covid-19 vaccine than recommended, which contradicts the opinion of doctors, which may expose them to unwanted health complications, so we advice everyone to adhere to the opinion of the treating doctor, in order to ensure their health and safety.”
