A 42-year-old Asian woman has been referred to Dubai Criminal Court on drug-trafficking charges after she attempted to smuggle over 6kg of hashish into Dubai Airport.
The case dates back to last April, when the defendant arrived at Dubai Airport’s terminal 3 and passed her luggage through the screening machine.
A vigilant customs officer suspected the contents of her luggage after noticing its density.
She was directly asked if there was any illegal items inside the bags, but she denied it.
However, the officer decided to inspect the luggage himself and found a cylinder-shaped object with a dark-coloured substances hidden inside.
The substance weighing over 6kg was tested by forensic laboratory and found to be hashish.
During interrogation the defendant confessed to attempting to smuggle the drugs in order to promote and sell it inside the country.
Her case was transferred to anti-narcotics department in order to be legally punished and prosecuted on drug-trafficking charges by the Dubai Public prosecution.
