The Official Spokesperson for the UAE Healthcare Sector, Dr Farida Al Hosani, made the statement during the latest coronavirus briefing on Sunday.
She said, “We noticed that some people insist on taking more than the recommended doses for COVID-19, which contradicts medical opinion and may expose them to undesired complications, so, we advise all to adhere to the medical opinion.”
Dr. Farida elaborated that the authorities have approved a set of doses for all groups of people in the UAE.
Taking the jab more than the recommended one would complicate the situation, especially for those who have other health issues.
People with Diabetes and high blood pressure must consult a doctor even before taking the recommended doses.
She said, “We stress on the importance of getting booster shot only to those who have completed the first six months of the second dose, to improve immunity and increase anti-bodies to fight the virus, especially for senior citizens and people with chronic diseases.”
The health ministry called upon all members of the community to adhere to the precautionary and preventative measures, like wearing masks, avoiding gatherings and crowded places and hand sanitisation, to ensure the safety of all.
