An engine failure forced a Boeing 737 freighter with two crewmembers to make an emergency landing at sea off Honolulu on Friday, the US Federal Aviation Administration said.
A spokeswoman for the US Air Force said in a statement that Transair Flight 810 was trying to return to Honolulu when the plane was forced to land in the waters.
"According to preliminary investigation, the US Coast Guard rescued the two crewmembers from the waters.
The US aviation authorities are investigating the incident.
Coast Guard spokesman Matthew West told media that one pilot was rescued by a Coast Guard helicopter, while a fire service helicopter rescued the other pilot.
A ship was sent to the scene.
The pilots were taken to a hospital in Honolulu for treatment.
