A young man, who was infected with coronavirus, held his wedding party in the city of Gafsa.
This ignorance led to dozens of infections among the guests, including his mother.
The groom’s mother died due to complications from the virus.
The groom will face charges of premeditated murder, according to Tunisian local media.
The young man was aware of his infection with COVID, but insisted on organising his wedding on the predetermined date.
The wedding ceremony was attended by dozens of guests, some of whom came from distant states.
After his mother’s death, the groom’s sister was also admitted to the hospital.
The young man will appear before the Public Prosecution at the Court of First Instance in the southern governorate of Gafsa.
He will be charged with premeditated murder and endangering the lives of others, breaking COVID-19 rules and arranging a social gathering during a pandemic.
Tunisia is in a catastrophic situation due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.
The authorities have imposed a curfew and partial lockdown in some cities.
On Tuesday, the Tunisian Ministry of Health recorded 9,823 cases and 134 deaths, which is a daily record since the start of the pandemic last year.
