4-year-old Egyptian girl sat next to her mother's body for two days, ‘thinking she was sleeping’

The Egyptian city of Hurghada witnessed a tragedy after the body of a woman in her forties was found next to her 4-year-old daughter who thought she was sleeping for two days.
According to Egyptian media, the incident came to light when after the sister of the deceased phoned her several times. The little girl answered the phone and said, “Mama is sleeping.”
When the matter was repeated, her sister became suspicious, so she came to the apartment and with the help of the neighbors, broke the door, only to discover that her sister was dead, and next to her was her child, waiting for her to wake up from sleep.
According to the investigations, the little girl remained next to her mother's body for two days, without any food, believing that her mother was asleep.
The corpse was transferred to Hurghada General Hospital mortuary. The aunt took the girl to her place.
The family's neighbors confirmed that the girl's is in good health.
Preliminary investigations confirmed that the body of a woman named Iman, in her 40s, showed signs of decomposition, and that her husband left her three days ago and did not bother to contact her. He now resides with his second wife.
The police are continuing their investigations to uncover the causes and circumstances of the incident.
The Hurghada Health Office report confirmed that the mother's death was natural, and it occurred two days before her body was discovered.
