His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, launched the ‘Drone Box,’ a platform to dispatch drones across Dubai to reduce police response time to criminal and traffic reports from 4.4 minutes to 1 minute.
The launch came during Sheikh Mohammed’s visit to Dubai Police Headquarters on Wednesday.
The service will be officially launched during Expo 2020.
Sheikh Mohammed also reviewed the artificial intelligence systems that assign police patrols across Dubai without human intervention and the system of 300,000 smart and round-the-clock surveillance cameras that ensure safe living for our citizens and residents.
Sheikh Mohammed said, “Thanks to our police officers and sophisticated security apparatus, Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world.”
“Tourists have the best travel experience, citizens and residents live in safety, and investors embark on businesses ventures because of their immense confidence in our rule of law,” Sheikh Mohammed concluded.
Dubai Police personnel monitor different areas of the emirate at the HQ.
Sheikh Mohammed praised the achievements of the Dubai Police and the security services and their honourable national role, and said, "Security is an essential pillar for the progress of society, a main requirement for development, and an important guarantee for the success of its goals.
“We are assured that the responsibility for maintaining the security of society and the safety of its members and institutions is borne by the people of the country with all ability honesty, and sincerity. ”
The Dubai Ruler praised the high level of performance achieved by the Dubai Police thanks to the continuous investment in the rehabilitation of the police cadres, through the finest training programmes and the exchange of experiences with the most efficient security agencies around the world.
Sheikh Mohammed expressed his appreciation for the honourable role played by the Dubai Police, along with the various concerned agencies, in supporting efforts to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, and the support services and facilities it provided to citizens, residents and visitors. He also praised the contribution of the police, which had a clear impact on the success of these efforts, especially during the period of implementing the national sterilisation programme, which accelerated the implementation of the programme in Dubai, and led to the return of most economic and social activities to normal within a record time by international standards.
The Vice President said, "A salute of pride and appreciation to every eye that watches over the security of the nation... and every effort that preserves its achievements and protects its gains in order to consolidate the reasons for its advancement, progress and prosperity."
