Heavy to moderate rain was experienced in several areas of the UAE on Thursday, bringing the mercury down by a few notches.
Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ajman, Sharjah, and Dubai witnessed heavy rain.
The UAE’s weather body, National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said heavy rain was experienced over Razeen in Abu Dhabi, light rain over Al Markhaniyyah, Zakher in Al Ain, light to moderate rain over Masfut in Ajman, heavy rain over Suhaila in Sharjah, and Hatta in Dubai, light to moderate rain over Kalba, Wadi Al Helo in Sharjah, and light rain over North of Gasyoura in Al Ain.
The NCM said the highest temperature recorded over the country on Thursday was 46°C in Al Jazeera BG in Al Dhafra Region at 14:30 UAE Local Time, while the lowest temperature recorded over the country was 21. 5°C at Jabal Jais in Ras Al Kaimah at 05:30pm.
The weather body said, “Fresh Southeasterly to Easterly winds with speed of 40 km/hr. causing blowing dust and sand reducing the horizontal visibility to less than 2000 m at times over some exposed areas from 10:00 to 19:00 Thursday 15/07/2021.”
The UAE authorities have been carrying out several sessions of cloud seeding to enhance rain in the region.
The NCM has carried out 94 cloud seeding flights, since the beginning of 2021, at an average of 2-3 hours per flight.
