His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, celebrates turning 72 today.
Sheikh Mohammed was born on Friday, July 15, 1949 into the family of Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum. He was the third of four sons.

Sheikh Mohammed is also a renowned poet and an award-winning knight.

As a poet, Sheikh Mohammed writes with elegance and his writing is full of fluidity. No topic is left untouched in his collection of poems. From unrequited love to current affairs, he does justice to all his poems.
A distinct style in his poetry writing is the use of riddles. He has poems that are crafted in the form of questions and he encourages the public to get in touch with their inner poet and answer the riddles in his poems.
Being a poet showcases his artistic and sensitive side that is not usually seen in leaders. It shows that beyond being a stern Ruler he is also human with emotions like everyone else.
According to him, " All my poems are a result of personal experience, event or situation."
Aside from being a poet, Sheikh Mohammed is a magnificent knight.
He has won different trophies from various Royal Ascot races including the Investec Derby at Epsom. In 2012, he was crowned FEI World Endurance championship winner.
As he turns 72 today, people of the nation are proud to call him their leader.
