They were also fined Dhs985,000 and were ordered to be deported after serving their sentences.
The case dates back to February 2020, when an Asian woman reported that she had been assaulted, before being robbed of Dhs985,000 from an iron safe inside her flat.
According to the victim’s statement, one of the convicts knocked on the door of her house, and as she opened it, he pushed her hard and forcibly entered the flat. Another convict followed him.
The latter put his hand on her mouth, to prevent her from screaming. She continued, “The first man who hid his face tied my hands and feet with an adhesive tape. A piece of cloth was put in my mouth and was taped.”
They then locked her up in the bathroom. According to the testimony of a police officer from the investigation team, the first convict had been identified through footage of the surveillance camera at he place. He was located and arrested in another emirate.
When asked about the crime, the convict confessed to having committed it in complicity with others. On searching him, Dhs931,000 was found in his possession. The convict admitted that the seized amount was stolen from the plaintiff’s flat.
He confessed in the investigations to committing the theft jointly with other compatriots, and admitted that he was the mastermind of the crime. He also guided the police to the location of his second partner, who confessed to his involvement in the theft, and that he embezzled Dhs35,000 from the stolen amount without the knowledge of his partners
