India on Monday reported 39,361 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data showed.
The health ministry said in its statement that the COVID-19 death toll rose by 416 deaths in the last 24 hours, with the total reaching 420,967.

The health ministry data showed that India's total cases now stand at 31.4 million, making it the second-most affected country after the United States.

The country now has 411,189 active cases and has witnessed a total of 420,967 deaths so far.
A total of 35,968 people were discharged from hospitals and health centres in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cured to 30,579,106 till date as the virus continued to infect less than 100,000 people over the last 48 days, according to the government.
According to the health ministry data, a total of 435,196,001 COVID vaccine doses have been administered in India so far, including 1,899,874 in the last 24 hours.
The total number of samples tested so far has reached 456,289,567 as on July 24, including 1,718,756 samples tested on Saturday.
