A British man resorted to jumping from the roof of his house to escape the police who were chasing him for planting cannabis, in a video clip documented by cameras, and published in the British media.
British police in the city of Walsall, West Midlands, England, said they went to arrest the man after they were informed of the presence of a quantity of cannabis with him.
"We acted on intelligence and discovered about 70 cannabis plants at an address in High Street, Blockswich," the police said. "During a property search, a man inside the building climbed onto the roof and jumped off," police said, explaining that they have taken the accused to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
The police confirmed that he was arrested on suspicion of cultivation of cannabis, and will be questioned when his condition permits.
Eyewitness cameras documented the man's daring attempt to escape from the police's grip.
"I was sitting on my bed, and I heard a lot of noise, so I got up to look out the window, and there was a man on the roof and two policemen downstairs," said student Arvi Arrowsmith, who lives in the area.
She continued, "I just took out my phone and as soon as I started recording the video, he jumped down and made a big noise after which he shouted for help," before the police arrested him and called for an ambulance.
