CAA imposes fresh curbs for incoming passengers as fourth coronavirus wave hits Pakistan

Pakistan has imposed fresh restrictions on incoming passengers as the fourth coronavirus wave takes hold in the country.

The Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) said in a new travel advisory, that all inbound passengers aged six years and above will be required to submit a valid negative PCR test result conducted within 72 hours prior to commencement of travel to Pakistan.

“All international passengers over the age of 6 will undergo rapid antigen testing upon arrival in Pakistan,” the CAA's travel advisory said.

Those passengers who tested positive for coronavirus between the age of six and 12 years will be home quarantined under the supervision of concerned authorities, the notification said.

Whereas, passengers aged over 12 years will be quarantined at a designated facility as per procedure already in vogue, the CAA’s advisory said.

The CAA's notification further said that considering the volatile nature of the COVID-19 situation, any or all arriving passengers may also comply with additional conditions set by the relevant health authorities when they arrive in Pakistan.
