$2 million for information on a crime that took place 42 years ago

Australian police are offering $2 million in prize money to help figure out the murders of two teenage girls in New South Wales: Robin Hickey, then 18, who was last seen on April 7, 1979, at a bus stop in Belmont North, and Amanda Robinson, 14, who was last seen on Lake Road in Swansea on April 21, 1979, just two weeks after the first incident, in the same area.

The investigation found that the two teenage girls were killed by the same killer and the police treat them as one crime.

Investigators in Lake Macquarie reopened the case in April 2019, decades after the crime inquest of finding the killer.

NSW Police Minister David Elliot said, "Although the two disappearances are separated by two weeks, we view the two crimes as a one crime and it is important that residents of Lake Macquarie and across New South Wales provide any information they have that may lead to the discovery of the perpetrator."

"We hope this increase in the reward of $1 million per crime will stir the conscience of anyone who knows anything about the disappearance of these two teenage girls," he added.
