Indian Consulate always seeks welfare and employability of India's workforce in UAE, says Consul General Aman Puri

As part of the fifth edition of “Breakfast with the Consul General”, conducted by the Consulate General of India, Dubai, Consul General Dr. Aman Puri visited the Indian Association, Umm Al Quwain on 20 August to interact with the Indian workforce of M/s Saravana Food Stuff Factory LLC. Sajad Saheer Nattika, President, Indian Association, Umm Al Quwain, Zulphikar Ali, General Manager, Saravana Food Stuff Factory LLC, Dr. K.S.N. Kumar of Datta Yoga Centre, and officials from Bank of Baroda were also part of the event.
The first Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF Day) was also marked today, which is being observed as part of the India @75 celebrations-Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. ICWF, set up in 2009, is aimed at assisting overseas Indian nationals in times of distress and emergency in the ‘most deserving cases’ on a ‘means tested basis’. ICWF has also been a critical support in emergency evacuation of Indian nationals from conflict zones, countries affected by natural disasters and other challenging situations.
On this occasion, the Consul General extended his warm greetings and joined the workers for breakfast. During his interaction with the workers, he encouraged them to learn new skills and mentioned the Consulate’s ongoing upskilling initiative, an endeavour to make the workers ready with skill sets for the technology driven future. He also encouraged them to imbibe yoga in their daily routine. He assured that the Consulate was dedicated to the welfare and protection of the Indian blue-collar workers.

A Health Checkup and Yoga session by yoga wellness Instructor Dr. KNS Kumar was also arranged for the workers of Saravana FSF at Indian Association Umm Al Quwain. Officials from Bank of Baroda arranged a financial awareness session. On this occasion, cultural programmes and raffle draws were also organised, and gifts were distributed among workers to mark the celebration of ICWF Day.
The Consul General also planted a tree sapling in the Indian Association Umm Al Quwain premises.
Upskilling session in Ajman
An upskilling session for Indian blue-collar workers was organised in collaboration with Indian Association Ajman and Cromwell UK International Education in Ajman on Friday, 20 August.

President of Indian Association Ajman Abdul Salah and Director Operations, Cromwell UK International Education, Mohammad Shafiq, were also part of this event.
The Consul General in his address said that having the largest working diaspora in the UAE, the Consulate was always interested in enhancing the employability and productivity of Indian workforce in the UAE. He also added, with the rapidly evolving global technological landscape and current COVID-19 pandemic, "it was critical for us to keep updated with the requisite future skill sets."
Since the launch of the upskilling initiative in January 2021, more than 300 Indian workers have benefited from these upskilling programmes.
President of Indian Association Ajman Abdul Salah said that more such sessions would be conducted in the near future.
Director Operations, Cromwell UK International Education, Mohammad Shafiq talked about the importance of upskilling in every sector in today’s world.
Around 50 Indian blue-collar workers participated in today's session.
