2 unsafe medical products prohibited

The Ministry of Health and Prevention issued a circular to withdraw a number of batches of two medical products, “PipelineTM Flex Embolization Device” and “PipelineTM Flex Embolization Device with Shield TechnologyTM”, due to serious dangers including death.
The ministry demanded returning the batches to the producing company explaining in a circular sent to all health facilities and health care practitioners, that the batches include some manufactured between April and October 2019, and some of which expire in October 2022 while others expire in April and May 2023.
The ministry pointed out that the decision is taken after the manufacturing company “Medwayk” received reports on serious injuries and deaths.
Separately, Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a SEHA healthcare facility, has offered he Oligocheck test across its nutrition clinics in line with the network’s commitment to providing high quality healthcare services.
Oligocheck is an advanced device that allows practitioners to test patients for mineral imbalances and heavy metals. In addition to the Oligocheck, clinics have also been equipped with a body mass analysis device that measures muscle ratio, fat and bone density.
