The Dubai Health Authority(DHA) on Wednesday announced the provision of a third dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine to people with moderately to severely compromised immune systems.
The health authorities said that children above the age of 12 are eligible to receive the third dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
The categories include:
• People with moderately to severely compromised immune systems
• Individuals who have an active tumor and hematologic malignancy or have recently received treatment for the same
• Recipients of a solid organ transplant or patients who have undergone Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT)
• People who suffer from a severe case of primary immunodeficiency
• Patients with advanced or untreated HIV
• Patients undergoing active treatment with agents that are immunosuppressive or immunomodulatory

The authority confirmed that the third dose of vaccination with the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine against Covid 19 is limited only to the specific groups referred to, and does not include all individuals and is in accordance with the recommendation of the specialist doctor.
The move takes into account their health conditions and strengthening their immunity against the coronavirus. Authorities said that not all people with immune diseases need a third dose of vaccine, emphasising the importance of reviewing their health state.
It is advised to consult the family doctor for evulation of the health state and if the doctor suggests it is needed, then the doctor will set the appointment and transfer the person who needs additional vaccination at the appropriate centre.
The authority stated that citizens and residents with Dubai visa, who receive treatment outside the emirate, must get a medical report approved by your healthcare provider and make an appointment to confirm your eligibility for the third dose by contacting the family doctor in the primary health care centres affiliated with the Dubai Health Authority.
The experts said that people without immune diseases there is no need for a third dose of vaccine as shown by global studies so far.
