Abu Dhabi Police called on drivers not to exceed the percentage of tinting vehicle windows.
The police said up to 50% tinting is allowed in order to achieve an acceptable view of the road.
The Traffic and Patrols Directorate stated that determining the percentage of glass tinting was approved after thorough studies, to ensure that it does not affect the level of vision of drivers, which requires car owners and drivers to fully comply with this percentage, in order to preserve their safety and the safety of other road users.
Through its patrols in the field, the directorate monitored several violations in terms of blocking vision, such as the thermal insulation of the windshield, the use of solar panels or reflective coloring on the glass in the side or front windows.
The Police explained that these practices violate the Federal Traffic Laws, which approved the 50% tinting of the front side and rear windows of the vehicle in black only.
It stated that it is prohibited in any way to put a heat insulator, or tint any part of the vehicle's windshield, and everything that would impede the driver's vision while driving on the road.
The police pointed out that according to the articles of the Federal Traffic Laws and the table of violations, if motorists are caught with higher percentage of tinting the vehicle’s windows, a fine of Dhs1500 would slapped on the motorists.
Drivers are prohibited from writing phrases or placing stickers on the vehicle, without a permit.
There is a fine of Dhs500 for putting stickers on the car with permission.
