The UAE on Saturday witnessed heavy to moderate rain, bringing the mercury down by a few notches.
Al Ain, Ajman, Sharjah, Umm Al Quwain, and Dubai experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday.
The UAE’s weather body, National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said, “There was a chance convective cloud associated with rainfall and fresh to strong at times winds with speed of 45 km/hr. causing blowing dust and sand reducing the horizontal visibility at times over some Eastern areas from 13:00 to 19:00 Saturday 11/09/2021.”
Light rain was experienced over Malaqit in Al Ain, Heavy to moderate rain over Manama and Masfut in Ajman, heavy rain over Al Dhaid, Madam in Sharjah, and Hatta in Dubai, light to moderate rain over Kalba, Wadi Al Helo in Sharjah.
Heavy rain was seen over Falaj Al Mualla in Umm Al Quwain.
The highest temperature recorded over the country was 47.3°C in Saih Al Salem area of Dubai at 14:30 UAE time.
The lowest temperature recorded over the country was 23.4 °C in Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah at 04:00 UAE time.
The UAE authorities have been carrying out several sessions of cloud seeding to enhance rain in the region.
The NCM has carried out 94 cloud seeding flights, since the beginning of 2021, at an average of 2-3 hours per flight.
