The Midday break rule period, which started on June 15, prohibiting any outdoor labour work between 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm across the UAE - will end on Wednesday (Sept.15).
The end of the mandatory annual Midday work break was announced by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE).
The Midday break was aimed to ensure the wellbeing and safety of labourers working under direct sunlight during summer months.
The Ministry along with its partners, has issued several rules and procedures and organised a number of awareness activities and programmes to ensure that workers are protected against heat exhaustion, heatstroke and coronavirus infection.
The Midday break rule excluded firms which are responsible for works which must continue for technical reasons.
However, the mployers of exempted companies were asked to ensure provision of cool drinking water as well as thirst-quenching items, such as salts, lemon and etc in proportion with the number of workers.
