Palestinian twins Muna and Mohammed El-Kurd has featured in TIME's list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
The American magazine announced a list of the 100 most influential people around the world and named the Kurd twins for "opening a window to the world about living under occupation in East Jerusalem — helping to transform the international discourse regarding Israel and Palestine.”
In May, at least 22 Palestinians were wounded in clashes with Israeli police in annexed east Jerusalem, as tensions flared over a controversial land rights case. According to Human Rights Watch, the homes of four Palestinian families are located on land claimed by Jews.
Two hashtags were trending, #لن_نرحل and #SaveSheikhJarrah on social media.
In June, Israeli police detained the twins who became the face of a campaign to halt Palestinian evictions.

Supporters of Muna and Mohammed El Kurd said their detention was part of a broader Israeli effort to halt opposition to the evictions in Sheikh Jarrah.
Time magazine editor in chief Edward Felsenthal said the 100 list features "extraordinary leaders from around the world working to build a better future" who "in a year of crisis have leaped into the fray".
The 100 list, which is not ranked, included 54 women. It also comprises political figures such as US President Joe Biden, US Vice President Kamala Harris and former US President Donald Trump.
