Abu Dhabi Police have warned the dangers of not obeying traffic rules while driving in the streets.
The police in cooperation with the Follow-up and Control Center - Abu Dhabi, and as part of the "Safety Path" campaign and the "Your Comment" initiative, broadcast a video of a driver who committed several traffic violations, namely not using the signal when changing lanes and overtaking from the shoulder of the road.
The shoulder of the road is an area designated for vehicles layover when necessary without disrupting traffic.
The motorist paid no attention to the above rules.
The video showed, the reckless SUV driver changed lanes at a very high speed without using indicators.
The motorist then enters the shoulder of the road at a very high speed only to realise that there is vehicle parked ahead.
The driver could not stop the vehicle and ultimately the hit the vehicle and damaging both the cars and public property.
The Directorate of Traffic and Patrols in the Central Operations Sector called on drivers not to overtake from the shoulder of the road designated for emergency cases and for emergency vehicles.
The road helps emergency services to access the accident sites.
The shoulder of the road also helps the team to rush the injured to the hospitals.
According to the Article 42 of the UAE Traffic Laws, using the shoulder of the road other than emergency purposes can incur a fine of Dhs1,000 and 6 black points.
