A massive fire broke out in a four-storey building in Kolkata’s most congested area on Monday.
The civil defence authorities said that no one was injured in the fire that erupted in Colootola area.
Officials at the site said residents reported inferno on the third floor around 11am.
At least 14 fire engines were at the site to douse the flames.
It is believed that the fire started at a room stacked with huge quantities of garments.
Residents said that two families also reside there.
Several teams from nearby civil defence centres are involved in the operation.
The locality has been evacuated.
The police said that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
