Saudi Police arrested a man in the Jizan region after he set fire to a vehicle whose owner stopped to perform prayers on Saturday.
The culprit fled the scene after alighting the car, surveillance cameras revealed.
In an official statement, the police stated that the incident occurred in Sabya governorate after a man in his forties poured a flammable substance on a vehicle and set it on fire, and fled the scene, explaining that he was arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution.
Saudi media quoted the owner of the vehicle as saying that he stopped on the road between Sabya and Jizan, near the Al Dhabya Bridge and went to the mosque for the noon prayer.
He said that after leaving the mosque he was surprised to see his vehicle on fire.
The vehicle was badly damaged.
The man informed the police, who later succeeded in catching the culprit.
