The Traffic and Patrols Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police’s General Directorate of Central Operations has announced a ban on heavy-duty trucks on the emirate’s internal roads and highways in two morning and evening periods, effective from Sunday.

The ban decision was taken in light of the times of going to and returning from work and schools and consequently would continue during peak hours on the roads, Brigadier Ahmed Al Sam Al Naqbi, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department, said. The new times would take immediate effect and trucks that do not abide by the ban periods would be fined, Al Naqbi said, noting that trucks with valid permits would be allowed to use internal roads to ensure smooth traffic movement in the emirate and traffic safety during peak hours.
