The General Command of Sharjah Police arrested an Arab driver who fled after he ran over a woman, causing her death on the spot and seriously injuring her child, 8 hours after the accident.
In detail, a report was received to the Central Operations Room of the General Command of Sharjah Police, stating that a run-down accident occurred on Al Taawun Street, and as a result, the relevant traffic patrols moved to the location of the accident to verify and take the necessary measures.
The police found that an expat woman and her child were crossing the road from a place not designated for pedestrian crossing.
As a result, they were run over and the driver fled immediately after the accident.

Traffic tracking systems and smart cameras contributed to the search and investigation of the vehicle after generalizing its specifications and expected possibilities according to its last presence, and to identify it and locate it accurately.
The fugitive driver was arrested in a sandy area near the site of the accident.
Sharjah Police called on the public to be careful while crossing the road, and not to cross except from the places designated for them.
The police stressed that they will not be lenient in applying the law to violators of traffic regulations, and trying to escape from traffic patrols, and everything that poses a threat to the lives of road users.
The police call on drivers to abide the speed limit on the emirate’s roads, and not to excessive it, as it is a major cause of accidents that result in loss of life.
