At least 19 people were killed and 13 others injured in a horrific traffic accident that took place on a highway in central Mexico on Saturday, authorities said.
The federal authority responsible for traffic safety, CAPUFE, said in a statement, The accident occurred in the city of Chalco (11 km south of Mexico) at a transit toll payment center for the use of the highway linking the capital with the city of Puebla.
The authorities added that a truck lost control of the brakes swept into a line of six cars that were waiting for their turn to pay the transit fee, which led to the disaster.
Videos posted on social media showed some of the vehicles involved in the accident engulfed in flames, while others near the toll booth were completely destroyed.
