The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an Asian, 42, to one year in jail to be followed by deportation on charges of forging official documents, impersonating a doctor working on a government entity and attempting to illegally obtain Dhs80,000 from a bank.
Investigations showed that the defendant impersonated a doctor and deliberately intended to meet a bank representative in doctors’ official white uniform in a bid to fraudulently obtain a Dhs80,000 credit card.
The case dated back to January 2020, when a bank employee discovered that the identity of a customer was forged and the rest of the documents were not authentic.
According to the official documents, the defendant applied for opening an account to obtain a credit card with a bank after submitting an ID card with his photo glued on it and a salary transfer certificate issued by a medical institution signifying that he was working as a doctor in it.
