‘Crude joke’ of modifying friend’s picture and uploading it on WhatsApp lands man in trouble

Two friends visited their third friend who owned a farm. After sometime they created a WhatsApp group to interact with each other. Once they all were at the farm and one of them clicked photographs of their meeting on his mobile.

Later on he modified the pictures of one of his friends in an inappropriate and immoral way and uploaded it on WhatsApp group.

He said he has done it just for joke but as soon it was uploaded, everybody in the group started mocking the friend in the picture.

This infuriated him and he reported the incident to the police.

The competent authorities took the legal procedures against the suspect.

The Federal Public Prosecution, through its official account on the social networking site “Twitter” said that friendship and joking among friends is a good thing provided that this do not jump the red lines which may not be accepted and can put a person under the legal accountability.
