Several fires broke out at dawn on Saturday in a number of villages in southern Lebanon, amid appeals from residents and municipalities to save the remaining green spaces.
Video clips circulated on social media showed the intensity of the fires that devour green spaces, in both Al-Qusaiba, the vicinity of Barish, Tyre district, and the forested area between Zararia and Sir Al-Gharbiyye. Cases of suffocation were recorded, and a number of homes were evacuated.
A viral video showed an army used a helicopter bucket to take water from a nearby swimming pool to assist in putting out the fires in southern Lebanon.
