A person buried his friend alive with the help of the victim’s wife in a ditch, which the victim dug.
A security source said the incident dated back to an earlier time when the police station of Sherbin City, in Dakahlia Governorate, received a report from a woman alerting the disappearance of her husband who worked for a contracting company.
The wife added her husband headed to the company where he worked in Alexandria Governorate to end his service and that he communicated with her through phone but later, there was no contact.
According to the source, the wife said that after some time, someone contacted her and told her he detained her husband due to a financial dispute. She added the caller asked for a ransom to release him.
The source added, “A security team was formed to identify the caller, who worked as a blacksmith in the same area. He was a friend of the disappearing husband.”
The police arrested the suspect, who on being questioned, confessed to murdering the husband, conniving with the wife who wanted to get rid of him because of his ill-treatment.
He also confessed he lured the victim claiming that he wanted him to help in excavating a piece of land searching for ancient monuments.
“When he arrived, I offered him a glass of juice with a drug. Shortly after he drank the juice, and while digging, he fell unconscious. I threw him in the ditch he dug with his hands, until he died”, the suspect added.
He guided the police to the place where he buried the dead body, and the wife confessed that she knew about the suspect’s plan to kill her husband.
The wife and the suspect were referred to the public prosecution where they were ordered to be detained pending the case.
