Dubai to host ICOM museums conference in 2025

The Advisory Council of International Council of Museums (ICOM) on Saturday elected Dubai as the host city of the 27th General Conference, which will take place in 2025.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai has congratulated Dubai for winning bid to host ICOM 2025.
“Dubai is set to host Icom 2025, the world’s largest museum conference, involving 119 counties and covering 20,000 international museums. This further consolidates the UAE’s thriving culture sector,” Sheikh Mohammed tweeted.
During the 2021 Annual Meetings in June, three candidates were announced: Kazan, proposed by ICOM Russia; Stockholm, proposed by ICOM Sweden; and Dubai, proposed by ICOM UAE.
The 90th Advisory Council of ICOM, which took place on Nov.18-19, elected Dubai to host the 27th General Conference.
ICOM UAE presented the bid to host the conference around the theme The Future of Museums in Rapidly Changing Communities, focusing on change, recovery, accessibility, and transparency.
