After about 62 years, US police find clues to a murder of a 9-year-old girl, named Candy Rogers who was killed in 1959.
Candy used to sell peppermint before she was killed.
Spokane Police said they identified the killer, who raped and killed Candy.
The police tweeted, “Investigators solved the mystery of a cold murder crime, committed in 1959," according to the US NBC News.
Spokane cops this week identified John Reigh Hoff as the child’s murderer using DNA analysis, according to reports.
Police clarified that the murderer was a vendor named John Reigh Hoff, who was charged with attacking a woman, after tying her up with her clothes and strangling her.
He was at that time a soldier but demobilized from the army to work as a vendor. He reportedly committed suicide when he was 31, according to the police.
Hoff’s daughter volunteered a DNA sample to police this year when she learned he was a suspect.
The police said that the daughter of the killer provided the DNA, which contributed to solving the mysterious crime.
