The General Directorate of Dubai Police launched traffic campaigns which resulted in seizing 9,886 cycles, motorbikes violating the traffic laws over the past 10 months.
Brigadier General Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, Director of the Traffic Department, explained that the campaigns were organised by Deira and Bur Dubai police stations, to seize the violatingbikes.
He added the campaigns aimed at reducing mortality, disabilities and injuries caused by cycling incidents.
He also stressed that despite intensive awareness campaigns, there are some bikers who violate traffic rules and endanger their lives and the lives of others.
Mazroui stressed the conditions of security and safety which bikers must adhere to, including putting the helmet which meets the safety standards while biking on the highway.
He also said that riders must wear a neon jacket, adhereng to traffic lights and traffic information signs, installing white light on the front of the bike and bright red and reflective lights at the back, and valid brakes.
