The UAE is on a path to achieve a milestone in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, with the latest figures showing that 100 per cent of its eligible population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine as of Nov. 24, 2021.
According to the Our World in Data COVID-19, it said the share of people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 is well over 89% as of Nov.15, while the total vaccination rate of the population is over 98.10% as of Nov. 24.
The UAE is second behind Gibraltar to achieve this remarkable feat.
According to Our World in Data, Gibraltar is 120 per cent with at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The British Overseas territory is 118 per cent when it comes to fully vaccinating of population.
The small country on Spain’s south coast has a population of just over 33,000.
The UAE has over 9.8 million people.
The UAE’s exemplary efforts in combating the coronavirus pandemic received praise from world health bodies and ministers of Health recently.

The UAE has put up stringent measures and tightened its screening at borders and airports to curb the spread of coronavirus variants.
Authorities had urged local bodies to adopt rigorous screening and testing for all residents and speed up the vaccination process.
The UAE, from the beginning of the year, has brought down cases peaking at over 2000 to below 100 in November.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) said on Friday that it conducted 263,429 COVID-19 tests over the past 24 hours.
It announced 70 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the UAE to 741,790.
It also said that no deaths were reported in the past 24 hours.
The UAE Health said that 19,694 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were given in the past 24 hours.
The Ministry’s plan to provide the COVID-19 vaccine to all members of society and efforts to attain acquired immunity resulting from the vaccination, which will help reduce the number of cases and control the COVID-19 virus.
The Our World in Data also tells us that 53.9% of the world population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Over 7.85 billion doses have been administered globally, and 29.4 million are now administered each day.
Only 5.6% of people in low-income countries have received at least one dose.
