The General Department of Abu Dhabi Customs, in cooperation with strategic partners, foiled an attempt to smuggle 174,000 tablets of captagon, equivalent to 30 kilogrammes.
Inspection officers in one of the land border ports of Abu Dhabi, foiled the attempt of smuggling the drugs after smugglers concealed them in transportation means in professional ways while crossing the land border port.
Mubarak Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Customs Operations Sector, said modern and sophisticated customs systems used in the department reveal all kinds and forms of drugs. The operation shows the inspectors' ability to detect tricks and different smuggling ways, he added.
Mansouri stressed the department's keenness to enable and train the inspection cadre constantly through programmes and training courses and develop plans to enhance the efficiency of security cadres to protect the ports and borders.
The Federal Authority of Identity, Citizenship customs and ports security praised the foiling the attempt stressing that this success embodies the excellent cooperation between operational bodies of the ports and reinforces their keenness to preserve community security against drugs to ensure sustainable safe and secured homeland.
