UAE travel update: New travel curbs announced in the wake of Omicron

The new manifestation of the coronavirus, Omicron, has impacted over 30 nations, including India. To check its damaging influence, several countries have imposed curbs.

India has kept in abeyance its plans to resume international flights from December 15. All travellers to the South Asian nation must submit a self-declaration form online at Air Suvidha and details of the last 14 days. They should also upload a negative PCR test report taken 72 hours prior to departure.

In Kerala, all foreign tourists will be tested on arrival in this state. Those coming from high-risk countries must undergo a 7-day quarantine period and take another test, according to a report in a section of the local media here.

In Karnataka, all passengers arriving there must undergo a PCR test and a 7-day home quarantine.

The same is the case in Maharashtra, where all visitors will have to take additional PCR tests and a home quarantine upon arrival.

Pakistan has banned travel from six African countries and Hong Kong owing to the Omicron.

Philippines has announced that travellers from the Green List of countries will have to submit a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of departure, 5th day swabbing, and home quarantine until the 14th day of arrival.
