UAE first nation in the world to introduce national working week shorter than global five-day week

The UAE has once again become the first nation in the world to introduce a national working week that is shorter than the global five-day week. According to the law, the public sector employees in the UAE will work for 8 hours a day for four days a week.
On Fridays, employees will have the privilege to work for four hours only.
That amounts to 36 hours. This makes the UAE the first nation in the world to have shorter than the five-day week.

Previously Sweden has lowest working hours a week, that is 40 hours.
The authorities said that the extended weekend comes as part of the government’s efforts to boost work-life balance and enhance social wellbeing, while increasing performance to advance the UAE’s economic competitiveness.
According to the move, Federal government entities new working hours will be from Monday to Thursday with work starting at 7:30am and ending at 3:30pm, and Friday working hours will be from 7:30 am — 12:00 pm.
