A unique art event brings together a group of artists of determination, arts students and a group of professional artists to create a number of paintings with a noble cause to support Special Needs Future (SNF) Development Center, a school dedicated to People of Determination.
The purpose of the event, organised by Funun Arts Group at Novotel-Dubai World Trade Center, is to bring students from the mainstream school and students of determination to work together for a day and express their artistic work. The artworks created will be used as designs for annual calendar for SNF Development Center and will be sold to raise funds.
“In a decaying society, art, if it is truthful, must also reflect decay. And unless it wants to break faith with its social function, art must show the world as changeable. And help to change it,” said Shiba Khan, the founder of Art Group.
Around 15 artists of determination from the SNF joined 15 students of DPS, Sharjah and 15 professional artists from different nationalities residing in the UAE and created 15 amazing artworks.
Each artwork at the event was created by three persons -- one artist, artist of determination and a DPS student -- who painted together and created the magical artworks.
“Art is the stored honey of the human soul, gathered on wings of misery and travel. This was an event about determination, community and empathy. For us any event we do is special but the events which we do with students of determination or with people from different walk of life is always full of emotions and sentiments. From planning till the execution of this event our heart and soul is into it. They teach us the lesson of humanity and happiness. Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and paints his own nature into his pictures,” Shiba said.
Farah Khan, a photographer and creative designer at Funun Arts commented, “I can capture the beautiful smile of these talented and wonderful people all around. While looking we cannot judge or differentiate them from anyone, so this is what we want to do, erase the line which is an illusion. Bring the change in your vision and you will come to know the beauty and differences lies in each of us. Ignore the differences, world itself will become beautiful.”
Mehnaz Bari, Manager of Special Needs Future Development Center, Dubai said, “ We have been able to successfully integrate a number of students into the workforce and will continue to persevere in our goals of fostering acceptance for these adults who deserve an equal place in our society.”
Ferry Trinidad, Cluster Digital Manager of Novotel, WTC, Dubai said, “We are happy to organise this event where we can see the collaboration of artists along with students from SNF and other students and creating such a wonderful artworks.”
Ahmed Al Awadhi, an Emirati artist, told us, “Art can communicate information, shape our everyday lives, make a social statement and be enjoyed for aesthetic beauty.”
Kamod Bhat, senior FineArts Coordinator DPS Sharjah and other teachers told the Gulf Today, “The DPS Sharjah is highly privileged to be part of this unique and wonderful event being organized by the art group and the hotel to support the People of Determination.”
